Displace any point based object (polygon or spline) to fit the DEM Earth surface

The Geo-modifier maps points to geographic space, using dem earth as a reference. With this modifier, you can modify any point based object to take the form of the DEM Earth landscape. You can even turn the parent landscape off, and the points will behave as they should. It is not geometry dependent. it maps points to DEM height data.

Settings

Strength

at 100% your points will vertically align to the DEM Earth surface.

Selection

Restrict the points to be displaced with a point selection.

Texture Tag

Insert a Texture tag, to have DEM Earth UVW coordinates matched to.this lets you modify the uvw coordinates of the dem earth parent and set them to whatever the coordinates of the texture tag are.

Displacement

Offset

A general offset to the DEM displacement.

Per Object

if you are displacing multiple objects, this lets you apply a different offset to each object

Fields

Use Cinema 4D fields to modify the strength of the geographic displacement.

The Plane and disc objects are displaced to fit the dem earth surface. Anything can be modified in this way.

  • if you hide the DEM Earth object, you see that each object is in effect, its own landscape. it is not restricted to the geometry of the DEM Earth parent.
  • You can move each object around independent of DEM Earth itself and they always project to the geographic surface.

  • The Edge modifier is used to highlight edges by area, which is much easier to visualize a surface with.
  • Strata.. object takes these 3 objects and extrudes their sides to the floor. You can do this with hundreds or thousands of objects.
