Works on Polygon Objects and splines. Anything with points, real or virtual.


  • A new take on the good old Spherify modifier.


The Spherify 2.0 modifier in DEM Earth, a Cinema4D plugin, allows users to transform any object into a sphere while preserving internal geometry, unlike the default modifier which alters everything within its radius.


Sphere origin is the Modifier itself. you can add multiple, in sequence to create some crazy deformations.


It pretty simple, but it works very well, and is IMO a valid upgrade to the old Spherify Modifier.


why?


Strength : blends between the initial shape and the deformed state. You can go below zero, and above 100% for some mind altering deformations :)

Radius : the radius of the effect.

Invert: inverts the deformation.

I am open to feedback, ideas and suggestions..


  1. One idea, that worked well, was to take the object axis as the sphere center. I tried it and it works well. I can add that in the next update.
  2. Could easily add Field support. But is it worth adding?
  3. Add a vertex weight map for deformation outsize of sphere.
  4. Use vertex normal to behave differently for points that face towards or away from center? backface (from center)
  5. switch for splines/polys. if you have multiple types in a hierarchy, maybe you don't want to modify everything. you can use tags, but not for virtual stuff. So maybe add a switch to better specify what you want to modify.
