Vector pro 3 is very easy to use. it can be used in many ways. This plugin generates splines or polygons, from images,movies or shaders.
Note that Vector pro 3 was rewritten for R20 and onward and that some tabs are no longer needed. i.e. the extrusion tabs. Simply use the built in c4d extruder.
