The Strata Object converts polygon objects to into Solid 3D Objects, which you can use for many things, including 3D printing.

Strata Projects open polygon sides, to the floor.

Usage

The strata Object is a generator. You place it above any Polygon object.

i.e. Insert the Strata Object above a DEM Earth object, or above an Infinity Object.

It will make a virtual solid version of whatever polygon based objects it finds. The side of the object is dropped to the ground plane, and the base gets filled for each object.

Settings

Generate.

  1. Separate Strata.
  2. Connected Strata
  3. Connected Strata with Base(3D Solid)

Offset

  • an offset from the default floor.

Hierarchy Depth

  • By default, the Strata object has a hierarchy  depth of 1. That means it will only operate on the first child object it finds. If you have lots of Objects under the Strata, you can increase this number and it will operate on more objects. If you give this a very large number, it will basically operate on everything it finds below itself.

With version 5.6 material selections have changed to :

  • 5.6 now lets you decide what the selection names are. These selection names are now reflected in other tools, i.e. the Smart extruder, or DEM Earth Landscape Object.

  • Where "C" is now the surface Cap selection, and "S" is now what used to be strata, and is usually called shell in a c4d context.

Note:

The Strata Object does not need DEM Earth. It operates on any polygon object(s).
