Is there a way to map the points independently of vertices?
I want to create a LIDAR (http://ashthorp.com/content/31-Dawn-of-the-Planet-of-the-Apes/1-images/POTA_WEBSITE_1280_AT_19.jpg) style look, but often the geometry i have is has few vertices or they are too organically shaped. ideally i could drive the dots via a light source if possible somehow with Xpresso?
This is possible using a light as a particle emitter. Use the PMatterWaves Xpresso node and use Birth Type: Light
i don't think lights are a good solution for this, as there is a hard maximum light count in c4d, and i think its as low as 1024. I also don't think this is a job for a shader.
